“There was some gentle treatment, with light touches to the lower back. So it was both sets of treatment and some massage as well”.

Leanne Hamilton was suffering from severe back pain when she enlisted the help of osteopath Maeve McGowan. Leanne said: "I first went to Maeve because of my daughter. She was born with moulding on her head.  I was at baby yoga and the teacher actually recommended Maeve for my baby to see if she could get the moulding out of it".

After having a child, Leanne started to get back pain and when she visited Maeve for her daughter she hoped the osteopath could help her back. "Whenever I was seeing Maeve I told her about my bad back from having the baby", said Leanne.  “She asked what GP surgery I was attached to and when I told her she said I could see her for free on the NHS".

But after a visit to Maeve, Leanne was told she had pelvic torsion. The condition happens when one wing of the pelvis either back or front twists causing the leg to be shorter than its partner leg causing back pain. She said: "I went to her for lower back pain and she told me I had a twisted pelvis, pelvic torsion is the official name for it. Maeve used a manipulation treatment where the back would be cracked.  There was also some gentle treatment which was the main osteopath section of it.  It was all light touches to the lower back. So it was both sets of treatment and some massage as well".

The treatment has changed not only Leanne's life but also her daughter's.

She added: "I have found the treatments brilliant.  She did all gentle treatment on her head and my daughter’s moulding is gone ".
