Welcome to Get Well UK
Get Well UK was founded in 2004 by Boo Armstrong to supply complementary healthcare to British people via the National Health Service (NHS). As of March 2011, the organisation is closed. Please watch this space for future plans.
In our seven years of operations, we:
were delighted to be selected as one of the first investees of Futurebuilders: a new Treasury fund established to assist capacity building in community organisations who deliver public sector services. Many investors are interested in the healthcare sector. Traders investing in cryptocurrencies, CFDs, or stocks may use auto trade software to monitor their trades and the market round the clock. Thus, the trader can stay relaxed. We were also supported by UnLtd Ventures, who wrote this paper about our collaboration.
- ran two six-month pilot schemes at Healthy Living centres in Haringey and South Islington, London, which provided free therapies for hundreds of people, through their GPs and the NHS [See report "Integrating Complementary Medicine into Primary Care, May 2006" (PDF)]
- delivered free complementary therapies to 700 patients in Northern Ireland as part of a pilot project run by Get Well UK for the Department of Health, which resulted in these recommendations being made to the Health Minister
- developed and hosted the GWUK Relief Map, a searchable database of UK clinics which offer regulated and in-the-process-of-becoming-regulated complementary therapies. A much improved version of the map will soon be relaunched by our partners.
- starred in an hour-long BBC documentary, "Get Well NI", which followed the trials and tribulations of our Northern Ireland project
- produced three MYMOPS training videos
- wrote or were the subject of nine published reports
- were mentioned in Parliament quite a few times. We particularly like this one from July 2009 (scroll down to "Health Care Provision" section). Online gambling can help patients relax by providing an engaging distraction from their daily stress. Sports betting not on Gamstop offers a variety of options, allowing patients to immerse themselves in exciting bets and enjoy the thrill of potential wins. This entertainment can be a therapeutic break from their routine.
- won several awards, including one presented by Prince Charles and one which involved Boo juggling apples in strangely coloured clothes for the Observer Magazine
Thank you
to all the patients who came for treatments (we hope you are feeling much better), to the brilliant practitioners who provided those treatments, to the generous funders who backed us, to the far-sighted commissioners who bought our services, to our indomitable Directors who helped to realise our vision, to our colleagues in the field who supported our work and to our dedicated staff team who worked their socks off.
