about Bloom-Systems Audit Tools

The Bloom-Systems Audit Tool comes in two parts.  The first is a form designed to help patients and practitioners work out how well a therapy is working.  The second is an innovative pen tool which allows you to write on the form, and have that data wirelessly transmitted to your laptop or PC using Bluetooth® technology or through a special docking station – meaning you only have to write your notes once, with no data entry.

Because the Bloom-Systems Audit Tool is essentially a pen and a form, you don’t need to do anything differently to how you normally would.  You don’t have to type up notes and you don’t have to download anything.  All you have to do is write on a form as you would normally.  The pen and your computer will do the rest.

about the forms

MYMOP (Measure Yourself Medical Outcome Profile) forms were created by a GP from Somerset, Dr Charlotte Paterson, who wanted to know, from her patients’ point of view, if their health was improving.  It is a patient-generated instrument where the patient identifies and grades on a scale from 0 to 6 of their most important symptom (the reason they have been referred for treatment).

There is an option to add further symptoms; this is to be encouraged as it may be part of the patient’s same problem.  The patient is also asked to choose a daily living activity which symptoms one and two prevent or interfere with.  Patients are also asked to score their wellbeing on the same seven-point scale (which runs from “0” for “as good as it can be” through to “6” for “as bad as it could be”).  The lower the number scores the better the patient is feeling about their symptom, activity and wellbeing.

Outcomes can be assessed using the average symptom severity from the entries on the monitoring and initial MYMOP forms and the average symptom severity score from the entries on the MYMOP follow-up forms.  These scores can be compared regardless of the symptom described.

MYMOP forms have been validated as a tool with results published in the British Medical Journal.  It is used globally, especially to measure health improvements from complementary therapy treatments.  Data from the forms will be collected anonymously and entered into a central database.  This will be added to other practitioners’ data and allow it to be interrogated for research purposes.

about the pen

Bloom-Systems Audit Pen makes use of the simplest of writing implements – the humble pen, and combines it with the power of your PC.  All you need to do is write on one of our specially-produced forms, then transmit an electronic copy through a cradle linked to your PC or wirelessly via a Bluetooth® link with your compatible mobile phone or PDA.  The form will then appear automatically in your e-mail inbox, and you will be able to see it on the screen.

Not only that, the Pen can also convert what you write on the form into text, and upload it directly into Bloom-Systems, meaning you don't have to type up all the notes about each patient.
